Vietnam relies heavily on fabric and material imports
Vietnam’s textile & garment exports are expected to rise by 15% annually from 2016 to 2020, reaching USD 50 billion in 2020. Currently, Vietnam’s fabric production is only able to satisfy 15% of the textile and garment industry demand, resulting in the need to import large amounts of fabric, yarn, cotton and other materials from overseas. Therefore, this event will generate significant business opportunities for textile and garment manufacturers not only in Vietnam but around the world.
Hanoi: The new production base in the North
Due to favourable government policies and lower wages and production costs in comparison with Ho Chi Minh City, many local and international companies have recently moved their textile and garment production factories to Hanoi. The Vietnam government and many national corporate headquarters have also set up their offices in Hanoi, making it the fastest growing production base in Vietnam.
