Hanoi and North Vietnam offer lower wages and production costs, and have more vacant land than Hochiminh City and South Vietnam. With the coming Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the FTA agreements signed with many countries, Vietnam encourages many local and international textile and garment plants to establish a new production base in Hanoi and North Vietnam.
Heavy fabric and material import demand in Vietnam
Vietnam’s textile and garment exports are expected to yield USD 30 billion in 2016. Unfortunately, Vietnam still relies heavily on imported fabric, yarn, cotton and other materials from over nations, such as Mainland China, Taiwan, India, Pakistan, the US, Korea and Singapore. The upside to this is that there are still lots of opportunities for international fabric, accessories and materials suppliers in Vietnam.
