US – China trade dispute inspires Vietnam’s garment industry boom
Vietnam exported over USD 9.4 billion worth textiles and garment in the first 4 months of 2019. Unfortunately, the Vietnam production of fabrics and garment accessories is limited, which means Vietnam needs importing lots of fabric and garment to fulfill its production demand.
Why Hanoi? The government of Vietnam is encouraging foreign investors to set up factories in North Vietnam near Hanoi, where labor and production costs are lower than South Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City. Also, the North has a fast land cross-border connection advantage with southern China, providing logistic support.
