Vietnam is heavily reliant on fabric and material import
The Vietnam textile and garment industry expects to raise its production by 20%, and to increase its export value by US$4 billion to $28.3 billion, in 2015. Although the industry is blooming, Vietnam still relies heavily on imported fabric, yarn, cotton and other materials from foreign countries such as China, Taiwan, India, Pakistan, US, Korea, and Singapore.
In order to increase its textile and garment exports, Vietnam has signed many Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with various countries in recent years. In addition, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement will be signed shortly.
This event will be held concurrently with the famous expo, "Saigontex - Vietnam Saigon Textile & Garment Industry Expo 2016". The last Saigontex was being held on 9-12 April, 2015, was the biggest event in the Vietnam's textile & garment industry since the 1990s. The event attracted 656 exhibitors from 22 countries / regions and over 15,000 visitors attended.
